About Page for McHeartland.com

Having grown up on a small family farm in the heart of the Midwest, a relationship was developed with the barns and buildings that provided the foundation or failure of agricultural success. As families become squeezed from the farming landscape, often times all that are left are the buildings rich in history, memories, and distant links to the past.

Such buildings symbolize cultural traditions and local customs; they reflect changing farming practices, transitions, and advances in building technology.

Within this site, it is my hope that your imagination will take you through the rural Heartland to a previous time when a building was a symbol of hard work and family sustenance, as well as history and times gone by.
